Volunteer Positions

Some of the positions and shift times have been changed and we have added new positions for 2016. Please check carefully when signing up for your shift. The volunteer positions available for the 2016 Brewfest are:

    • Line Control: assist with keeping the line in order, help visitors get to the next available register, answer basic questions about the event.
    • Backstock: bring glasses forward for sales and assist cashiers with wristbands.
    • Will Call: assist a staff member checking in those on the Will Call list.
    • Pre-Sale: check in visitors who have already purchased tickets and will give them their glasses & tickets.
    • This position will report to our Draft Manager. Volunteers will help with loading kegs, moving ice to kegs, etc.
    • Volunteers helping with event set-up will report to the Event Coordinator and will assist with the set in the tent, pavilion, and admissions areas. This may include laying out mats at the booths, putting out signs, etc. These positions work during the week before the start of the event as well as in the morning before the event starts on Friday.
    • Volunteers will assist staff with the sale of event merchandise.
    • Volunteers working at the Oregon Garden Booth during Brewfest will handle: Coat Check, Sell Tasting Tickets, Collect People’s Choice Ballots and Share Garden & Event Information.
    • Volunteers working the Server shifts will be assigned a booth (beer or hard cider) and will pour for guests. They will accept tickets (taste or full glass).
    • This position is only available on the two Sunday shifts. This position is essentially the same as a regular server position, but will only be serving rootbeer.
    • The Cover Shift volunteers over lap the main server shifts. This position is very important to the success of the Brewfest. Cover Shift volunteers will help pour at booths (filling in for absent volunteers), assisting with water, ice, emptying buckets and other needed tasks.
    • Volunteers working the Ticket Booth at Brewfest will sell tasting tickets to the event guests. Volunteers in this position should be able to handle a fast-paced work environment and be able to handle change and an iPad for sales.
    • On Sunday of Brewfest, we will have an area available for kids and adults to make Father’s Day crafts/gifts. We need two people per shift to assist with the craft.
    • This position will assist the Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer check-in and orientation. This includes checking in volunteers, giving out shirts, name badges, receiving signed OLCC forms, etc. Detailed instructions and training will be provided.

Thank you for giving your time to help make this event successful and fun. Without volunteers, this event would not be possible. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Beth Maurer, Volunteer Coordinator at 503-874-2533 or bmaurer@oregongarden.org .
