Are you an artist? We are currently soliciting proposals for art installations for “Art in the Garden,” a new event taking place in The Oregon Garden during summer 2014.

The piece(s) should be able to withstand outdoor exposure for the duration of the exhibit, which will run a minimum of six weeks to three months. Proposals that include a focus on Oregon, gardens and/or horticulture will be given special attention, but all proposals are welcome and encouraged.

Artists should submit a proposal that includes:

  • an artist statement                                                      Read More
  • sketches of the piece(s)
  • description of the mediums used
  • requirements of the installation site
  • description of the installation process
  • duration of the exhibit (how long it can survive outdoors)
  • total cost including artist time and materials. Cost should not exceed $1,000 per exhibit.

Artists should also indicate whether the pieces would be for sale. Any pieces that are sold as a result of their exhibit at The Oregon Garden will be subject to a 30% commission.

Artists will be responsible for installing the exhibit with guidance from The Oregon Garden horticulture department.

The Oregon Garden receives upwards of 30,000 visitors during the installation time period. Artists and installations would also be included in marketing and advertising throughout the summer for added publicity.

Proposals should be submitted no later than September 2, 2013 to Event Coordinator Mary Ridderbusch, maryr@oregongarden.org or mail in her care to The Oregon Garden, PO Box 155, Silverton, OR 97381.
