AREA ATTRACTIONSYellow Fern

MAKE A DAY OF IT.
There's so much to see and do in and around The Oregon Garden.

Historic Silverton

Silverton, a community of 7,400, is Oregon's “Mural City.” Beautiful wall paintings adorn buildings throughout the community. Downtown Silverton, designated a Historic District, offers antique shops, art galleries, fine dining and pubs plus pedestrian-friendly streets. You may visit Silverton and re-enter The Garden on the same day by showing your Garden admission receipt upon your return.

Silverton's Murals

Silverton MuralAs local artists paint Silverton one wall at a time, people come from all over the Pacific Northwest to see Silverton's larger-than-life art. It started in the early 1990s when local artist David McDonald painted Norman Rockwell's famous “Four Freedoms.” More wall murals followed, including Silverton native son Homer Davenport, Old Oak Tree, The Gallon House Bridge, Silverton vintage baseball teams and others in what has evolved into an outsized museum of art.

Silver Falls State Park

Encompassing 8,700 acres, it is the largest state park in Oregon. Opportunities abound for sightseers, hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The Canyon Trail rewards hikers with views of 10 different waterfalls from 27 to 178 feet in height. The park is located 15 miles southeast of The Oregon Garden.

Gallon House Covered Bridge

Built in 1916 and still auto accessible, it is Oregon's oldest covered bridge. The 84-foot-long bridge owes its name to the days of an unauthorized liquor dispensary at the north approach during the Prohibition era. It's located just a few minutes from The Garden. Take Hobart Road off Highway 214 on the northern outskirts of Silverton.
