Adjacent to the
Children's Garden the train garden is a must see for everyone
young or old.
Looping around a mountain and through hedges is an early
1970s Southern Pacific diesel style engine complete with two box cars,
two flat cars and a caboose. But don't worry, the train and train garden
are "G" scale and approximately 1/20th the size of a regular train.
The train is powered by a low voltage electric track and
is in operation daily between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Two regional train clubs have been involved in the
development of the train garden, the Pacific Crossings Railroad Club of
Salem and the Rose City Garden railway Society Club of Portland.
